You Have 24 Hours – Do You Trust Me?

Are you up for an adventure? 

(Picture me wearing a cape and extending a hand out to you, it makes it more exciting.)

Here’s your challenge:

Pick two past clients who you know were happy with their experience.

Select as far back as you are able – preferably 12-24 months, but if you don’t have any that far back, that’s ok.

In the next 24 hours, send them the following email, adapted to fit your situation:

Hey (client name)!

I was just thinking about you.  How are you doing?  How is Jane/Jim/your dog? 

I was wondering if you might answer a little question for me.  It’s been [x] months since we worked together, and I’m curious:  Have there been any moments in particular that you were glad you had these images? 

It might sound like an odd question, but I find that even though we love our images right away, they have a way of catching us off guard later.  Something about them might become unexpectedly valuable, or we might find that they record something that we otherwise could have forgotten.  So I’m just curious if this has happened for you – whether there has been a time when you were really happy you had them, or were surprised by how their meaning changed with time. 

I ask because I’m trying to make sure I help as many future clients as possible, so your answer – however simple or brief – could really help me help someone else.

You ask if they can think of any specific moments when they were glad they had worked with you. 

Variation:  Feel free to drop a couple of low-res images into the email if you think it’ll help jog their memory.

If you’re NOT a photographer, adapt as needed, but the principle applies – see if they can name a specific moment they were glad you’d worked together.
